A massacre committed

Officials in Khan Yunis said the bodies of 14 victims were taken to Nasser Hospital, nine of them from the same family, and among the dead were five children and four women.

The bodies of another 19 people, including five children between the ages of one and seven and a pregnant woman, were taken to the European Hospital near Khan Younis, hospital officials said.

In Gaza City, the bodies of 21 victims were transferred to Ahli Hospital, including seven children, reports AP.

On Wednesday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that Israel was establishing a new security corridor across the Gaza Strip to pressure Hamas, suggesting it would cut off the southern city of Rafah, which Israel has ordered evacuated, from the rest of the Palestinian territory.

Netanyahu named the new axis the Morag Corridor, using the name of the Jewish settlement that once stood between Rafah and Khan Yunis.

He said it would be "the second Philadelphia corridor", referring to the corridor near the Gaza-Egypt border, which has been under Israeli control since May last year.

According to Palestinian officials, the number of Palestinians killed in the Gaza Strip since October 2023 has exceeded 50,000.
