The number of dead in the devastating earthquake in Myanmar has risen to 2,886, and 4,639 people have been injured, while 373 went missing, press office of the ruling military junta announced today.

It was also reported that a 26-year-old hotel worker was rescued today from the ruins of a collapsed hotel in Myanmar's Naypyidaw, five days after a 7.9-magnitude earthquake hit the country, Xinhua reports.
Two people were trapped under the rubble of the hotel, and rescue teams from the Myanmar and Turkish fire services successfully pulled one survivor to safety, the Myanmar authorities' information team said.

The operation at the hotel began on Tuesday around 3 p.m. local time, and the man was rescued around 00:30 local time today, according to the statement.
Actions are underway to locate and rescue the remaining trapped persons, the statement added.
