Military maneuvers MILEX 2025, the largest military exercise of the European Union, will be held in Hungary from today, March 25, to April 10, the Hungarian Ministry of Defense announced.
The announcement states that the aim of the military exercises is to test the capabilities of the EU battle groups for ground operations, the Hungarian news agency MTI reported.
"The readiness for a quick response and the ability to coordinate between the participating countries in real conditions will be tested at the exercises," the statement of the Hungarian Ministry of Defense states, adding that the readiness of the combat groups will be tested through combat shooting and tactical maneuvers.
Ferenc Kajári, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Hungarian Armed Forces, said that participation in these military maneuvers is "an expression of Hungary's commitment to strengthening the EU's defense capabilities."
"Effectiveness of rapid response and cooperation will be key to facing the security challenges of the future," General Kajári concluded.
A total of 900 soldiers from Hungary, Poland, Germany, Belgium, Austria, Ireland, Spain, France, Croatia, Lithuania and Latvia will participate in these military exercises under the command of EUROCORPS, according to the Hungarian agency.
