"They are owned by the state. There is no private ownership of nuclear power plants here. As for green energy, there are private-public partnerships. There is also completely private energy, but all nuclear energy belongs to the state of Ukraine," Zelensky said at a press conference.

"America gave a big gift to Russia, it's wrong"

"The US, as the main ally in NATO, does not support Ukraine's entry into NATO. That is the case today. I believe that such a thing cannot simply be given to the Russians. I consider it a great gift, that this topic (of Ukraine's entry into NATO) was taken off the agenda in the negotiations. I simply believe that it is wrong. That is what I believe," added Zelensky.

What did Trump say about the Ukrainian nuclear power plant?

Let us recall that recently there have been proposals about the future of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant in Ukraine, the largest in Europe, which has been under Russian occupation since March 2022.

Namely, American President Donald Trump, after a recent telephone conversation with Russian President Putin, suggested that the United States of America could take control of Ukrainian nuclear power plants, including Zaporozhye, in order to protect them from further Russian aggression.

Currently, the Zaporizhia power plant is not operational and faces challenges such as a lack of cooling water, which hampers any plans to restart it.

These proposals have caused concern and criticism in Ukraine, where some believe that such moves could threaten the country's sovereignty and thus exploit its current vulnerability due to the conflict with Russia.
