Trump: I would like to...; Germany: No
German Foreign Minister Jörg Kukies said that Russia will not be re-admitted to the G7 group, despite the fact that US President Donald Trump said that he would like Russia to return to that group.
"The G7 has clearly condemned Russia's war of aggression, especially on the third anniversary of Russia's brutal attack," Kukies said in an interview with Reuters.
According to him, Trump's proposal to re-admit Russia to the G7 will not be adopted unanimously.
The US president said in mid-February that he would like Russia to be part of the G7 again, saying that Moscow's expulsion from the group was a mistake.
"I would like them to come back. It's not a matter of whether you like Russia or not. They are talked about all the time and they should also be sitting at our table. I think Putin would like to come back," said Trump at the time.
The G7 group consists of the USA, Great Britain, Canada, France, Italy, Germany and Japan.
Until 2014, Russia was also a member of the G7, and then the group was called the G8.
