An explosion went off this morning in Marseille, France, near the Russian consulate.
Firefighters confirmed that there was an explosion in the 8th arrondissement.
"The explosion occurred near the Russian consulate in Marseille around 8 a.m.," the firemen said.

There were no casualties, Russian Consul General in Marseille Stanislav Oransky told the Marseillaise portal.
About 30 firefighters and numerous police officers were on the scene.
Marseillaise says that the police cordoned off the area around the consulate.

The explosions inside the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Marseille have the characteristics of a terrorist attack and Moscow demands a detailed investigation from France, spokeswoman of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Maria Zakharova said today.
"The explosions on the territory of the Consulate General of Russia in Marseille have all the hallmarks of a terrorist attack. We demand that the country that accredits them take comprehensive and quick measures for investigation, as well as steps to strengthen the security of Russian foreign missions," Zakharova said, reports TASS.
