By winning the first round of the US Open this year against Radu Albot, Novak recorded his 78th triumph on this court.

Asked after the match if he knew he was playing for this record, he said no.

"Thank you, I didn't know that, to be honest! This is the biggest, certainly the loudest stadium we have in the history of sports. When they introduced the roof it must have gotten even louder, and with the new rules this year that the audience can move around... A lot is happening on the court. It's midnight now. I like to play the night sessions, but maybe not this late. Thanks to everyone, I appreciate it!"

James Blake, who interviewed him, says that even though he is 37 years old, he moves like he is 21.

"There's no single word or secret to describe it. It's a lifestyle, the way I approach my career. I was lucky early in life to be surrounded by some great experts who were kind enough to share their advice with me."

Blake asked Novak for the key to his longevity.

"I learned very early that prevention is actually longevity. So - stretching, warming up... Everything I did at the beginning will come back to me later in my career. The body is one part, the mental and emotional part is also there. You have to find the optimal balance between the two," said Djokovic and underlined:

"I still enjoy competing, I'm very self-critical on the court, sometimes very frustrated. But at the end of the day, this sport has given me so much and to continue to play and give 100 percent every time I step on the court is my tribute to this great sport".
