Bus driver arrested for causing accident near Umka
The Second Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade ordered the detention of the driver of the "Šević Tours" bus, G.Ž., on suspicion of having committed a criminal offense - a serious offense against the safety of public transport.
Two people lost their lives in this traffic accident, and according to the information available so far, 56 people were injured.
The suspect will be brought for questioning at the Second Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade with a criminal complaint, after which a decision will be made on further procedural proposals and actions by the prosecutor's office, about which the public will be informed in a timely manner.
As many as 56 people injured, two killed
Let's recall that a horrific traffic accident occurred this morning at around 6 a.m. near Umka, in which the intercity buses "Lasta" and "Šević Tours" collided, killing two people - a woman V.I., about 40 years old, and a man, a TENT employee.
According to an eyewitness, the bus flew past people at the station, and then a horrific collision occurred.
"It exploded like a bomb had gone off! A bus literally flew past the station, people were standing at the station and it flew past them! This looks like a head-on collision," said the eyewitness.
Apparently, the bus traveling from Obrenovac was overtaking the convoy and did not manage to return to its lane in time. That's when a head-on collision occurred, as it crashed into Lasta's vehicle, which was traveling from Belgrade to Obrenovac.
