Jurić: There can't be any secrets; The police take care not to endanger the child's life
Igor Jurić revealed new details of the investigation in the case of the missing Danka Ilić, explaining why the field search was suspended after 27 hours, reports Blic.
"No, it absolutely does not mean that some things have been discovered, on the contrary, it only means that there is no need to spend manpower and direct energy to that part of the field, which has been completely and thoroughly inspected. As soon as we have no additional information, the investigation continues, now the investigation has turned in a different direction and now some operative operations are being carried out related to the knowledge about the girl herself. This is what the Ministry of Interior itself stated'', Igor Jurić said about the case of the missing Danka Ilić to "Blic" TV.
Igor Jurić says that in cases of a child's disappearance, parents must share everything with the police, even the most intimate family secrets, which can be important in those moments.
"When we talk about these situations, when a child goes missing, there simply can't be any secrets in family relationships, on the contrary, you have to strip yourself completely and help the police. If you have any situation that could eventually lead to an unwanted event, in this case, the disappearance of a little girl, you have to tell everything you know," he adds.
The founder of the Center for Missing and Abused Children says that, in the days when his daughter Tijana Jurić went missing, he wished that someone would come forward and ask for a ransom.
"I really trust and am waiting for the police announcement to see what the final solution to this drama is, but I was definitely happy that the child was not found in that area, especially that first night, because it is unlikely that a child could survive in that area in those conditions. When Tijana disappeared, we were hoping that someone would ask for a ransom and that she was a victim of kidnapping, somehow now I hope that there is a chance that the child is with some people for some reason and that the child is still alive! That hope exists with us in in our heads, but from our experience we have to be prepared for the worst news," he said.
"It is actually a good thing that the area has been searched and the last hope is that someone is involved in it and that the child is hidden for some reason. I now expect that the operatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs will do a good job and that we will finally find out the real truth", he adds.
"The police take care not to endanger the child's life"
Igor Jurić also spoke about the activation of the "Find me" system.
"The system is activated by the heads of police departments, in this case it was the police department where the child went missing. When it is estimated that the child is in danger, the system is activated. What was specific in this case is that the child is extremely small, alone, the circumstances were very strange and the police reacted quickly, and because of the child's age, they searched the area in detail," Jurić points out.
"The police took care not to further endanger the life of the child and to investigate all the circumstances, that the child may not be a victim of kidnapping, that no ransom is demanded and the like, that's why the system was activated around 7 p.m. As for SMS messages, prior to this event, we made an agreement with the company "Viber" to be the creator of this system and to inform all users of the "Viber" application. Also, we were in America where we saw how the notification works through the "Broadcast" channel through base stations, so in the foreseeable future, SMS operators will not be needed, but all users of mobile devices will be notified with one click," adds Jurić.
