A strong earthquake hit two cities in Serbia

A strong earthquake, measuring 3.9 degrees on the Richter scale, hit Kruševac today.

As reported by the State Seismological Institute, the earthquake was recorded shortly before 2:00 p.m., at a depth of 5 kilometers.

"On 09.10.2024 at 15:38 local time, an earthquake with a magnitude of 3.6 on the Richter scale was registered in the region of Paraćin, 24 km SE. The theoretical intensity at the epicenter was estimated at V degree on the Mercalli scale. Earthquakes of this intensity can cause very minor damage to facilities in the epicentral area," announced the Republic Seismological Institute.

According to the first testimonies of citizens, the earthquake was felt in both Kragujevac and Nis.

"A hell of an earthquake," wrote one citizen.
