Boomerang! Boris is leaving Serbia, but...
Since the cold Arctic air, the so-called polar vortex, passed through the "gates of Vienna" and reached Serbia on Friday, we have become one of the coldest spots in the Balkans with an air temperature of 10 to 15 degrees.
Meteorologist Ivan Ristić tells "Blic" that there are two more cold days ahead, and that from Tuesday and Wednesday the temperature will slowly start to rise to around 20, a maximum of 25 degrees Celsius, but by the end of September, Serbia is expected to be under clouds with frequent rainfall.
According to the latest weather forecast, today will be cold, cloudy and with occasional rain. A strong wind will blow in Vojvodina, and the wind is expected to weaken in all parts of the country only in the afternoon. The minimum temperature will be up to 10 degrees, and the maximum around 15-16 degrees Celsius.
By the weekend, stabilization of the weather
"In the week ahead, we will be under the influence of a high-altitude cyclone, which the Italians called a Boomerang cyclone, because from Monday it is moving retrograde towards the west, that is, it is returning from where it came to us. Until Tuesday, I expect it to be rainy and cold with a lot of clouds, and then there will be an increase in air temperature. If there are more sunny intervals, it is possible that the temperature will reach 25 degrees next week. More stable weather is possible only next weekend," says Ivan Ristić.

He adds that Cyclone Boris also affected the weather in our country during the weekend, especially in Vojvodina, where it is extremely windy and rainy, and the Boomerang Cyclone has the biggest impact on the continuation of bad weather.
"With the arrival of the polar front through the 'Vienna Gate', there was a penetration of Arctic air from the North Pole towards Great Britain and the creation of a polar vortex, which was named Boris. In our country, we do not expect between 100 and 200 liters of rain, as in other countries, but it will rain 10 to 20 liters every day and we will slowly manage to bring water back to our country. That is good, because everything has dried up. A difficult period is behind us as far as water is concerned," Ristić points out.
He attributes the sudden changes and stronger cooling with greater amounts of precipitation to the change in circulation in the atmosphere, which also led to the cessation of all hurricanes, to the flooding of the Sahara, which is why there is no more sand above the desert that even reached us with precipitation, which is why we often had "dirty or yellow rain", but also that supercell storms bypass us this summer, which destroyed certain parts of Serbia last year, left behind desolation, caused great material damage and, unfortunately, took several lives.
Autumn temperatures and a chance for a real winter with snow to return
Ristić says that this change in circulation has led to the fact that already in mid-September we have a polar vortex, the center of which has been above us since Saturday, which is why it is the coldest in this part of the Balkans.
"Due to the polar vortex, Germany turned white and it is expected that two to three meters of snow will fall on the Alps.
The Balkans were the warmest on the planet for 14 months and our temperature rose by 3 degrees, but the maps now show that we will no longer be the warmest region. On the contrary.
"By the end of September, we expect real autumn temperatures with occasional rain, and there are great chances of having a real winter with more snow," concludes the meteorologist.
