Urgent SMS messages are coming: In Serbia from this date...
The state system for the transmission of information to citizens for the purpose of urgent information and warnings about natural disasters, crisis or emergency situations will start working on September 15, Minister Dacic said.
In the future, citizens will be informed about severe storms, fires, earthquakes, and radiation through SMS short messages that will be delivered via their phones.
Messages will be sent from the center by a specially formed team and working group responsible for crisis situations.
On that occasion, the Minister of Internal Affairs Ivica Dacic and the Minister of Telecommunications and Information Dejan Ristic signed a memorandum on the cooperation of both ministries in order to establish the system.
The system will entail receiving a short SMS message about an emergency situation with instructions on how to behave, and it will be valid for the territory of Serbia, that is, only for the part of the territory where the emergency situation occurs, it was said at the press conference after the signing of the agreement.
Similar systems have existed for years in the countries of the European Union. They are used in case of weather disasters, nuclear incidents, volcanic activity.
