Panic in the region: The first measures have been taken
The earthquake that occurred this morning 28 kilometers from Nikšić in Montenegro was also felt in Herzegovina, that is, in the Republic of Srpska, reports RTRS.
Because of this, there will be no classes in schools in Bileća today.
According to the head of Civil Protection of Bileća, Veselin Vujović, who spoke for Radio Republika Srpska, the earthquake was felt strongly at 4:07 a.m., but also about thirty smaller earthquakes after that.
"An unnatural roar was felt an hour after that first, strongest earthquake. We have been visiting the area since early morning and it is good that there is no material damage for now. However, we have estimated that elementary schools and kindergartens should not be working," Vujović said.
The European Mediterranean Seismological Center previously announced that the magnitude of the earthquake was 5.4 on the Richter scale.
