"The education of schoolchildren who attend "Vladislav Ribnikar" will not be jeopardized"

Slavica Djukić Dejanović also told the parents who held a rally in front of that school last night that their children's education will not be jeopardized.

The minister stated for RTS that the fear of the parents of children who attend "Vladislav Ribnikar" Elementary School, that it might be closed, is completely unfounded.

"What we will certainly do is that we will have to create completely safe conditions to reconstruct that part of the school where children will go to their classes, learn, acquire knowledge. It will be fully explained to the parents that our goal is that the Vladislav Ribnikar school continue to be an exemplary school, so that children go to that school," said Djukić Dejanović.

She notes that she wants to assure parents that no one in the Government of Serbia ever thought of closing the school.

"What kind of proposals we heard and what were all the ideas - that's one thing, but just as we have an obligation to make the place of grief truly a memorial center with clear messages, we also have an obligation to the children who go to school and who should acquire their knowledge and that they look forward to school life, let's ensure that too," she stated.

Parents of children who attend "Vladislav Ribnikar" Elementary School held a rally in front of that school last night in support of the idea of building a Memorial Center, but they also requested that the part of the school where classes once took place be functional for pupils.

Earlier today, in a statement, they welcomed the decision of the Government of Serbia on March 8 of this year to form a Working Group for the establishment of the Memorial Center and announced that they would provide support to that group in their work and help it, as they stated, to consider possible solutions, taking into account the needs of schoolchildren.
