Europe is on fire: Serbia is next
The beginning of June brought the first heat wave to the eastern part of the Mediterranean, and a hot air mass covered the area from Greece through Turkey to Cyprus. From today, this hot air mass is moving towards our area.
By the way, temperatures in the south of Turkey reached 44-45°C, as measured in Antalya. It's hot in Cyprus as well, in the central part of the island and in the capital, Nicosia, it's 43°C.
It's hot all over Greece, with temperatures exceeding 35°C and reaching 39–40°C in Athens.
The hot air mass is also spreading through our region and has affected Macedonia and Bulgaria, and the next ones to be hit are Serbia and Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as Romania.
As of today, the air pressure in Serbia is increasing, so the next days under the influence of the increased pressure will be clear weather, and due to the influx of very warm air masses, it will be very hot.
So, Serbia is facing its first heat wave this year. The maximum temperature will be above 30°C in the following days, and the hottest weather is expected on Sunday and Monday, with maximum temperatures of 32 to 36°C, in Belgrade up to 35°C.
Very high UV index values are also expected. The weekend and the beginning of next week will bring tropical nights to Belgrade and cities in Vojvodina, so that the minimum temperature will not drop below 20°C even during the night.
Otherwise, during the weekend, in addition to the fact that it will be bright and hot in Serbia, it will not be completely stable.
On Saturday, local showers with thunder are expected in the southwest of Serbia, and on Sunday evening and during the night in the northern, western and central regions.
Unstable weather is expected throughout Serbia on Monday. Freshening is expected in the second half of next week, and the maximum temperature will be from 25 to 30°C, so that we will face with temperatures above 30°C again after June 17.
The first heat wave will bring temperatures to Serbia in the coming period that are five and even more than 10 degrees higher than the average for this time of year.
