Arrests in the Belgrade area: 11 human traffickers deprived of freedom

In the period from November 2023 until today, they enabled at least 59 illegal migrants, among whom are citizens of Iraq and Syria, illegal transit through Serbia, with the aim of their further illegal transfer to the countries of the European Union.

On the territory of Belgrade, citizens of the Republic of Serbia were detained: N.D., M.T., V.O., D.M., I.S., A.J., T.Dj., Z.N., S.N., P.K. and D.S., due to the existence of a well-founded suspicion that they committed the crime of illegal crossing of the state border and people smuggling from Article 350, paragraph 4 of the Criminal law.

Members of an organized criminal group led by N.D. and M.T., committed the crimes of illegal border crossing and human smuggling from Article 350, paragraph 4 of the Crimina Code, for the purpose of obtaining illegal property benefits, for an amount ranging from 150 to 250 euros per irregular migrant.

This organized criminal group organized the reception of illegal migrants on the territory of Serbia, near the state border with the Republic of Bulgaria, in Dimirovgrad, Bosilegrad, Zaječar, the reception center in Tutin, and then organized illegal transit to Belgrade or to the state border with BiH, after which they the organizers and members of this organized criminal group shared the realized financial benefit depending on their task in the accomplished individual act of facilitating illegal transit through Serbia.

All persons will be brought to the Public Prosecutor's Office for organized crime with a criminal report, after which they will be heard by the public prosecutor.
