Minister on the beaten professor: Devastating
Minister of Education Slavica Djukić Dejanović stated that it is devastating that a teacher was beaten by a student in Bačka Palanka and that we should all ask ourselves what we can do to prevent such things from happening again.
She told Prva television that the teacher from Bačka Palanka, who spent 26 years of his professional life in education, who has five grandchildren and who was preparing psychologically and in legal terms for retirement, did not deserve this kind of degradation.
"What happened is devastating, and actually when we talk about the real authorities, about the value system, above all in the generation of young people, teenagers, then we all have to ask ourselves what I can do to change some things," said Djukić Dejanović.
She emphasized that she condemns the behavior of the "man" who is 16 years old who beat the professor, adding that he is in the category of a child up to 18 years old.
"This boy obviously came to that class planned as a time bomb. His actions are quite planned behavior. For him to enter the class, to simply plan to cause an incident and in the end for that incident to occur, that is already something that surely we strongly condemn, however, we have to ask ourselves what was the true reaction of other students", said the minister.
According to her, what is positive in the whole story is that the other children came to help their teacher, gave him first aid.
"The only positive thing is that the children were the ones who were simply on the side of the one who teaches them, who sends them educational messages and who in no way deserved to experience what he experienced in the classroom," said Djukić Dejanović.
She emphasized that the measures for the prevention of violence, which must be made a little more concrete, can also draw certain conclusions from such unpleasant lessons.
