A freight train ran into a car near Lajkovac
Today, at 1:25 p.m., a freight train ran into a passenger vehicle on the section of the railway line between Lajkovac and Lazarevac. The driver of the road vehicle was slightly injured in the accident.
As stated in the press release of the company "Serbia Cargo", the road crossing is secured by Saint Andrew's Cross and a stop sign, and the accident occurred because the driver of the road vehicle did not stop in front of the road crossing, i.e. in front of the sign for the mandatory stop of road vehicles, and the ambulance transported him to the hospital.
"The freight composition included 20 wagons, loaded with coal, and was traveling on the Piskanja-Vreoci route," the announcement states and added: "Members of the Ministry of Interior, as well as the Joint Railway Commission of the Railway Infrastructure of Serbia and Serbia Cargo for the investigation of extraordinary events, came to the scene, which will determine all the details of this accident."
Traffic on the mentioned section is interrupted, and normal traffic is expected to be restored soon.
Railway companies "Serbia Cargo" and "Railway Infrastructure of Serbia" once again appeal to all traffic participants to respect regulations and traffic signals, as this is the only way to prevent such accidents and save human lives, the statement concludes.
