"It's been the same story for years, we're afraid of every big rain," locals told RINA.

However, the City Headquarters for Emergency Situations and the JVP "Srbijavoda" report that citizens have no reason to panic and that the situation is under control.

"All teams are on the ground, preventive measures are being taken at critical points. A potential critical point could be the old bridge over the Jadar River in Lešnica on the main road, but for now everything is under control at that location as well. Traffic is moving regularly," said the Emergency Situations Headquarters.

The situation in the territory of Loznica is monitored hour by hour, because more heavy rain could bring new problems.

Firefighters, rescuers and the municipal Department for Emergency Situations are currently on the ground.

No spills in Lucani for now

Zoran Vučićević, Chief of the Municipal Staff for Emergency Situations of the municipality of Lučani, said today that the Bjelica river rose from 66 to 103 centimeters from Wednesday, but that the service took certain concrete preventive and operational measures as soon as it received the warning.

"We have put the public companies 'Komunalac' Lučani and 'Dragačevo putevi' on standby so that equipment and people are available due to the possibility of overflowing both smaller streams and the Bjelica river," said Vučićević.

According to him, the critical places are the village of Viča, the mouth of the river Gorušica in Bjelica, the settlement of Bugarčići across the street from the plant in Guča.

"We will send forces and resources, machines and people from public companies to those places, as needed, to protect citizens and their property," said Vučićević.

In the urban settlements of Lucani and Guča, the Public Utilities Commission "Komunalac" carried out preventive cleaning of gutters and grates so that during rainy days there would be no flooding of these populated areas.

With the construction of ramparts after the floods that hit Lucani in 2015, the industrial zone in Lucani, where the chemical manufacturing factory "Milan Blagojević" is located, was protected from the overflow of the Bjelica river.

"According to the announcements of the competent services, we expect precipitation in the next few days as well. For today, the announcement is that some 30 liters of rain per square meter will fall, which can pose a danger because the land is filled with water and there may be an increase in the level of the Bjelica river and its tributaries in the territory of the Lučani municipality," concluded Vučićević.

Regular flood protection was introduced in the Drina - Loznica and Kolubara - Obrenovac sectors

Today, flood protection was introduced at the water units "Drina-Loznica" and "Kolubara-Obrenovac" due to heavy rainfall, announced the Public Company Srbijavode.

Regular flood protection was declared from Osečina to the confluence of the Jadar and the Drina due to the overflowing of the Jadar river near the village of Bradić.

As stated, the water level situation on other rivers in Serbia is under control.

The water level on the Sava is stagnant, except near Šabac, where it is slightly increasing, while the water level on the Danube is stagnant, except near Prahov, where it is slightly decreasing.

The water level in Velika Morava is stagnant, except near Varvarin and Ćuprija, where it is slightly increasing.

The water level in the West Morava is increasing, while it is stagnant in the South Morava.
