London Heathrow Airport, which is one of the busiest in the world, had to suspend operations after a fire in a nearby substation caused a major power outage.

This caused problems with a huge number of flights in Europe, but also in the world.

The Serbian airline Air Serbia, which has direct flights from Belgrade to London - Heathrow, issued a statement.

"Due to a fire at an electrical substation, Heathrow Airport in London is closed to traffic. As a result, Air Serbia was forced to cancel today's flight JU210 from Belgrade to London, as well as flight JU211 from London to Belgrade. Air Serbia is working intensively to provide alternative solutions and help passengers find the most suitable options for continuing their journey," according to an Air Serbia statement.

As they add, the Serbian national airline is intensively monitoring the situation at Heathrow Airport and advises passengers to call the Air Serbia Contact Center on 0800 111 528 (from Serbia) or +381 11 311 21 23 (from abroad) for the latest information, and to follow the official website airserbia.com, as well as accounts on social networks.

Heathrow closed until midnight

London's main Heathrow airport will be closed until midnight due to a power outage following a fire at a nearby electrical substation that supplies it, the airport authority said.

In the statement, passengers are advised not to arrive at the airport and to contact their airlines for further information.
