Schools received a letter: Submit a compensation plan ASAP, the deadline is expiring
Even though March is approaching, a certain number of primary and secondary schools in Serbia still do not hold regular classes or classes are shortened.

Therefore, the Ministry of Education sent a letter to the schools to submit a plan for the compensation of teaching, so that the end of this school year could be realized properly.
The deadline for the delivery of the mentioned plan is, as the Ministry pointed out, March 3, and so far four possible scenarios are known to compensate for the missed classes.
Some schools that had some kind of suspension or boycott of classes in the previous months have already submitted a compensation plan to the Ministry, and as it is being overlooked, it will be about the following models - to extend the school year, to have students work on Saturdays, to shorten classes to 30 minutes, but to increase the number of classes per day, or to shorten the material.
Shortened classes
The first model, the model of compensating classes, implies that lessons are shortened to 30 minutes and that instead of six or seven lessons a day, children have eight or nine. However, in secondary schools, especially in gymnasiums, the model of shortening classes is difficult to implement, because the students are already overloaded, and the only other model that can be applied to them is the extension of the school year.
Extension of the school year
The second model involves going to school longer than originally planned, and therefore, this scenario will also lead to the postponement of the final exam for eighth graders. In the event of an extension, the junior high school graduation will take place on June 23, 24 and 25 instead of June 16, 17 and 18. Therefore, the publication of the wish list is postponed.
Working Saturdays
The third model that exists as an option for making up for teaching is working Saturdays. This would mean that students who missed classes would go to school on Saturdays until all the classes scheduled for the school year have been processed.
Summarizing the material
The fourth model involves shortening the hours, and this is the latest proposal that is also being considered. It is also the least popular of all the above. It implies that the material should be summarized and that only the essentials should be taught to the children, in order to cover as quickly as possible the material that has been missed and that still awaits them according to the school curriculum.
