In the shooting in Cetinje yesterday, 12 people were killed, including two children, while the doctors of the Clinical Center in Podgorica are fighting for the lives of four people from Cetinje, and because of the tragic event, the Government of Montenegro declared three days of mourning in that country starting today.
Seven men, three women and two children were killed in the massacre in Cetinje, reports Vijesti.
Prosecutor Andrijana Nastić confirmed that twelve people were killed in Cetinje.
All police units, as well as members of the Special Police Unit, searched for hours for the suspect Aco Martinović, who died a few minutes before midnight, after he shot himself in the head when, as confirmed by Acting Police Director Lazar Šćepanović, the police surrounded him near the family house in the Humci settlement.
He died on the way to the Clinical Center in Podgorica.
Martinović started the crime in the "Velestovo" tavern, close to the Sports Center at the entrance to Cetinje, where he killed four people, and then he killed eight more people at three other locations in the city, among them three women and two boys, two brothers, aged 10 and 13.
Four injured people were operated on last night at the Clinical Center, and the director of that institution, Dr. Aleksandar Radović, announced that the three seriously wounded are in the intensive care unit, that their injuries are serious, but that the vital parameters are "currently stable."
The operation of the fourth injured person, who has multiple head, stomach and chest injuries, as explained by Dr. Radović, should last until the early hours of the morning.
Aco Martinović committed a massacre after a brawl?
The first unofficial information from the Police Administration shows that yesterday morning Martinović was in the small tavern "Velestovo", where during the day he was hanging out with the owner and several other mutual acquaintances and friends, because they had a New Year's party with food and drinks.
The suspect allegedly argued, and then there was a fight in the bar, after which he went home, and then returned armed after a short time.
He shot in the tavern, and it is believed that he killed four people there.
After that, he drove his car to three more different locations in Cetinje - the Humce settlement and to two more places where he killed or injured several people, including two children, as well as several members of his immediate and extended family.
The second massacre in two and a half years
This is the second mass crime in Cetinje in the past two and a half years.
Montenegro has not yet recovered from the tragedy that happened on August 12, 2022 in the Medovina settlement, when Vuk Borilović killed 10 people, including two boys, two brothers, Vijesti reminds.
Day of mourning in Montenegro

The Government of Montenegro also appealed to municipalities to cancel performances and concerts scheduled for last night.
In accordance with the Decision, public, cultural and entertainment programs will not be held in public places, and music will not be broadcast in hospitality facilities.
