Croatia in panic, war coming? They are preparing people for disaster
As part of the European RescEU project, the Ministry of the Interior is preparing a tender for gas masks worth as much as 31.45 million euros.
They are procuring 282,000 masks that will be delivered to the Logistics Center of the Civil Protection Administration in Jastrebarski, writes Forbes Croatia.
The competition is divided into nine groups, and they plan to use it to buy different types of masks and mask filters.
The most expensive group is the one for the purchase of 62,000 protective gas masks for the whole face, estimated at 10.35 million euros plus VAT.
The estimated value of 20,000 full-face protective masks with filter and bag is six million euros plus VAT, or up to 300 euros plus VAT per mask.
There are another 100,000 reusable half masks for adults and the same number of reusable half masks for children. Both groups are valued at 5.5 million euros plus VAT.
The logistics center of the Civil Protection Administration in Jastrebarski is listed as the place of delivery of all masks. It is a tender that is carried out within the framework of the EU project RescEU, in which, in addition to Croatia, France, Poland and Finland participate.
As a reason for the purchase of this equipment, which will be intended for citizens of the European Union, various reasons are stated; disasters, terrorist attacks, but also the war in Ukraine.
The European Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Agency (HERA) highlights three threats to health that require coordination of measures at EU level in the context of medical countermeasures.
These are pathogens with high pandemic potential; chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) threats and threats arising from antimicrobial resistance.
This acquisition is a direct response to another identified threat, writes Forbes Croatia.
