Helicopters and the army raised; The search for the double killer continues
On Sunday, a helicopter with thermal imaging was searching the area around Tomasevo, as part of the search for Alija Balijagić, a suspect in the murder of two residents of the village of Sokolac in Bijelo Polje.
Chief of the General Staff of the Army of Montenegro, Brigadier General Zoran Lazarevic, during a visit to the village of Sokolac in Bijelo Polje, said that members of the Army and the police included all the capacities and techniques at their disposal in order to locate the suspect for the double murder in that place, reports RTCG.
Lazarevic also announced that soldiers will spend the night in all the houses in the area on Sunday to protect the frightened citizens.
A helicopter with thermal imaging took off towards Bijelo Polje from the former tailings dump in Mojkovac.
The search for Balijagić entered the fourth day. By the decision of the president of the municipality of Bijelo Polje, Petar Smolović, Sunday was declared a day of mourning on the territory of that municipality, on the occasion of the murder of Jovan and Milenka Madžgalj, Montenegrin media reported.
Milenka and Jovan Madžgalj were shot dead on October 25 in the evening. Suspect Alija Balijagić, who committed a double murder in Sokolac, is a multiple repeat offender, which is why he was serving a sentence for years. He was released from prison a few months ago.
The police have been looking for the suspect for 16 days for the second crime of stealing a rifle. The search for Balijagić was joined by members of the Special Purpose Detachment of the Army of Montenegro, equipped with the most modern equipment and means for carrying out night operations.
The police announced on Sunday that they received the only report that Balijagić was in the village of Sokolac and that he possessed a rifle on October 25, the day of the murder of Milenka and Jovan Madžgalj.
"The allegations that this person was reported to the Police Directorate several times are not correct, the only report from the Tomaševo MH, in relation to A.B., was received on October 25, more precisely on the day when the criminal offense was committed," the Montenegrin Police Directorate stated.
