Zagorka Dolovac invites students to a meeting as soon as possible in order to clarify certain requirements
The Supreme Public Prosecutor's Office announced that the public prosecutor's offices of the Republic of Serbia met the demands that the protesting students submitted to the Supreme Public Prosecutor's Office on December 25, 2024.
It is also added that Zagorka Dolovac is still inviting student representatives to the meeting, as well as that it wants the meeting to be held as soon as possible, in order to clarify certain requirements and provide additional information.
On the occasion of the indictment of the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Novi Sad against 13 persons who are reasonably suspected of having committed the criminal acts described in the indictment, as a result of which on November 1, 2024, the canopy of the railway station in Novi Sad collapsed causing the tragic death of fifteen persons and seriously injuring two, Supreme Public Prosecutor Zagorka Dolovac informed the public about the following:
- That the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Novi Sad in this case started the procedure of making available to the general public all evidentiary documents and information available to the prosecution on the official computer servers of the Public Prosecutor's Office which are publicly available.
- That due to the exceptional volume, the installation is carried out in stages in order to avoid congestion of access and normal functioning of the network environment.
- Then, that all persons who have been reported for any criminal offense in connection with the protest, and in which the injured parties and the victims are reported by students and professors of any university faculty in the Republic of Serbia, they are criminally prosecuted before the competent public prosecutor's offices and the proceedings are ongoing, as well as that the public will be regularly informed about them, they announced.
They emphasize that at this moment all previously detained students have been released, reports N1 television.
"Proceedings conducted before public prosecutors' offices against students who participated in the protests are being analyzed in detail, and all those lacking crucial evidence of criminal responsibility will be suspended."
As they stated in the announcement, in accordance with the aforementioned, the public prosecutor's offices of the Republic of Serbia met the demands that the protesting students submitted to the Supreme Public Prosecutor's Office on December 25, 2024.
As they add, however, Supreme Public Prosecutor Zagorka Dolovac and the Supreme Public Prosecutor's Office still stand by their call for a meeting between them and the student representatives to be held as soon as possible, in order to clarify certain requests and provide additional information.
