Media: Serbia is going to a referendum on a vote of confidence in Vučić
The media reported today that it is possible that SNS MPs will come up with an initiative to call an advisory referendum at which a vote of confidence in President Aleksandar Vučić will be taken.
"It doesn't occur to him (President Aleksandar Vučić, author's note) to leave this doubt floating in the public eye, I expect the president to say so publicly, that after this investigation and after these scandalous public claims, SNS will launch an initiative on trust to the president of the Republic. About whether Vučić should be president or not," said Informer editor, Dragan J. Vučićević.
Vučić offered a referendum in the middle of last year
In August 2024, Vučić called on the opposition MPs to request a referendum on his impeachment in the National Assembly and said that he would step down if 50 percent of the voters voted for it.
Vučić received support for this idea from the ranks of SNS and partners.
"Submit a request, 80 of you, I don't even ask for 85, I'll provide you with the rest of the signatures and before the end of the year we'll go to a referendum on the impeachment of the President of the Republic. Because that's what you're asking for. I'll fight against you even then. Here I am, I made it possible for you, don't bully the people, you don't do it because of lithium," said Vučić back then.
