Vučić visited the works on the construction of Tiršova 2: "Incredible progress. Waiting lists are shrinking"
President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, visited the construction site of the Tiršova 2 hospital and announced the completion of the works, but also referred to the student protests.
"Unbelievable how much change there is. Unbelievable progress," said Vučić.
Along with the president, the Minister of Health Zlatibor Lončar and the Minister of Public Investment Darko Glišić are also on the tour.
"We are building the most modern children's clinic and we believe that it will be important not only for children from Belgrade, but from the whole of Serbia and the region," the president pointed out.
"I had no idea how far it had progressed, but if you remember, the last time we were there, it was all dirt. So now this, the first floors, the first slabs, above the ground, we have five floors below the ground, six floors above, 11 floor in total, 62,000 square meters of total space. We are here 40 days ahead of schedule," Vučić said during a tour of the Tiršova 2 construction site.
"It should be completed by June in terms of construction, external construction, and then the technical and medical part. I expect May-June 2027, so in two and a half years, everything will be ready for the children, for the children and for the doctors, for the medical staff to have the best possible conditions for the reception of children," said Vučić for RTS.
"Tiršova receives 170,000 of our children annually and this shows how important it is for our little ones to have the best service. The waiting lists are shrinking and will further downsize. I believe that next year we can start negotiations to raise salaries. It is special for us, it is important to return as many people as possible to our country, doctors, medical technicians. 17 of them have returned, and another 30 have come forward to return to the country. I encourage them to return," said Vučić.
"We need our people to help us do everything together," he added.
The president was asked about the student protest.
"It is interesting to me that someone can be motivated, apart from Bjelogrlić, by Majić, who released people who raped Serbian women, pregnant women, shot them, cut them with a knife, killed children, and no one was responsible for the murders of dozens of Serbs, and he tells me about bloody hands. It's amazing how much the House of Flowers attracts tourists from Croatia and Ukraine. We'll put them all in our catalogs and send them off, we gave them gifts. A minute of silence is not observed when 40 days have passed since someone's death, just as the candles shouldn't be lit on the street. No one will touch them, no one will touch them," explained Vučić.
The main goal is the construction of a new University Children's Hospital
Due to the great importance of the Tiršova 2 Children's Hospital, at the request of the President of Serbia and the insistence of the Government of Serbia, the works are carried out in three shifts.
The total area of the complex is 33,670 square meters.
The main goal of the project is the construction of a new university children's hospital equipped with high medical infrastructure.
Basement 1, in medical and technological terms, will be the most complex floor, where there are the most intersections of daily and inpatient routes.
Radiological diagnostics, endoscopy, a central laboratory with a blood bank, physiatry, day surgery and the department of genetics and immunology will be located on this floor.
Inpatient facilities are provided on the first, second, third and fourth floors.
In basement 2 there will be central sterilization, central pharmacy, central kitchen, central laundry room, technical rooms.
An internal road is also planned from the planned roundabout near the City Institute for Emergency Medical Assistance to Deligradska Street, which will be used exclusively for the function of the Tiršova 2 clinic.
The new hospital will replace the existing building, which will most likely be converted into a pediatric palliative care unit, accommodation for accompanying parents, or a combination of both.
