"I don't expect anything, I expect us to have a good, open conversation. I expect them to open a cluster for us at the end of January, the beginning of February, that's good that we can respond to the untruths that some will utter about Serbia," said Vučić at the opening of the Summit.

"And I want to congratulate tomorrow's celebration of St. Nicholas, unfortunately I won't be able to attend to celebrate with my sons and brother, but I guess I'll be there soon," added Vučić.

"Today, together, the EU and the region, we will consider issues of key importance for all our citizens"

"I want to thank to Antonio Costa and Ursula von der Leyen for their hospitality and organization of this important summit. Today, together, the EU and the region, we will consider issues of key importance for all our citizens, starting from economic development, common foreign and security policy, and migration. We will also focus on strengthening the strategic partnership of the EU and the region, as well as accelerating integration through the Growth Plan. I will use this opportunity to make Serbia's voice heard, I will state our positions, ask for recognition of the progress we have made on the reform path and call for the acceleration and increased dynamism of the accession process," wrote Vučić in a post on Instagram.

It is planned that President Vučić will meet separately with the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Spain, Pedro Sanchez, the Prime Minister of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Luc Frieden, as well as with the President of the European People's Party, Manfred Weber.

During the summit, the main topics will be strengthening the integration of the EU and the Western Balkans through the Growth Plan, deepening the political engagement of the EU with the Western Balkans in several areas, including foreign and security policy, building an economic basis for the future and mitigating the consequences of the war in Ukraine, as well as cooperation in management migration, the fight against corruption and organized crime.

At the end of the summit, a joint declaration should be published, in which the full and unequivocal commitment to the perspective of the membership of the Western Balkans in the EU is confirmed and the future of the region lies in the Union.

EU and Western Balkan summits have been held since 2018, and the last such summit was held in Brussels in December 2023.
