Lajčak: The first meeting of the Joint Commission for Missing Persons is coming soon
The EU's special envoy for dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, Miroslav Lajčak, hailed today as an "important step" the completion of negotiations on the operationalization of the Declaration on the Missing.
He announced that the first meeting of the Joint Commission for Missing Persons will be held soon.
"I am very happy that we have successfully concluded the negotiations on the operationalization of the Declaration on Missing Persons from 2023. An important step towards finally providing relief to the families. We will soon organize the first meeting of the Joint Commission," Lajcak wrote on the X social network.
He added that during the meeting with the main negotiators from Belgrade and Pristina, which was held on Tuesday in Brussels, they discussed the steps mentioned in the conclusions of the EU Council from this year regarding the implementation of the Ohrid Agreement.
Lajčak thanked Petar Petković and Besnik Bislimi for "good cooperation and a detailed and constructive trilateral meeting" and added that he told both sides that the normalization of relations means integration into the EU and that there is no separation between the two processes.
