A tripartite meeting was held in Brussels; Petković: The last step is taken in the matter of missing persons
The tripartite meeting of the director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petković, the EU's special envoy for dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, Miroslav Lajčak, and the chief negotiator of Pristina, Besnik Bislimi, was completed in Brussels.
The meeting was held as part of today's round of dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina at the level of the main negotiators.
Belgrade insisted on a tripartite meeting, demanding that urgent de-escalation and stopping of further persecution of Serbs in Kosovo, as well as the formation of the Community of Serbian Municipalities be discussed in that format.
Petar Petković said that this round of dialogue was difficult.
"What we agreed on is that we took the necessary last step when it comes to the missing, so now the last obstacle has been removed, we have a declaration, we agreed on a joint commission, which will provide support to the working group chaired by the International Committee of the Red Cross. If there had been no effort on our part, that agreement would not have been reached. Of course, important issues for Serbs in Kosovo, the Community of Serbian Municipalities, we insisted on that," said Lajcak after the meeting.
Previously, a bilateral meeting of the Belgrade expert delegation led by Petković and Lajcak was held, as well as a meeting between Lajcak and the Pristina delegation.
