That's it; Foreign troops enter Ukraine?
Ukraine "could consider" French President Emmanuel Macron's proposal to deploy foreign peacekeeping forces on its territory.
However, as Ukrainian President Zelensky added, this could happen only after Ukraine gets a clear understanding of the time frame for NATO membership.
Zelensky said this after a meeting with German opposition leader Friedrich Merz, who visited Kyiv today.
The president also said he plans to invite US President Joseph Biden to discuss Ukraine's bid for NATO membership.
"I tell you honestly: we can work on Emmanuel's proposal. He proposed that the troops of this or that country be present on Ukrainian territory to guarantee security while Ukraine is not in NATO," said Zelensky after the conversation with Merz in Kyiv.
According to recent media reports, Great Britain and France are considering the deployment of peacekeeping forces in Ukraine after a possible ceasefire, and German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock is not ruling out the possibility either.
Merz called Annalena Baerbock's statement irresponsible, saying that ending the war is the most urgent thing right now.
