Vučić: For the first time in the history of Serbia, 2 ministers resigned; Expert examination finalized rapidly
President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, addressed the citizens being hosted on RTS, discussing all current topics in the country, but also in the world.
"First of all, I would like, once again, to express my condolences to the families of those killed in the accident that happened in Novi Sad," Vučić began.
"When the tragedy happened, I said that I expect moral and political responsibility, and that the institutions will do their job."
"In a moral and political sense, people behaved responsibly. Two ministers, who in some way cannot be connected to this, but because of their positions, resigned," said Vučić.
"That was proof of the progress of Serbian society, Serbian politics and the degree of greater, broader responsibility. I have no right to interfere in the work of the Prosecutor's Office. I could play the role of 'devil's advocate' and ask countless questions. I don't want to do that. I hope that everything will pass without any notions of disturbing the public," added Vučić.
He noted that he, as the president, cannot interfere in the work of the courts because of his position, because that would violate the Constitution of Serbia. Vučić also reminded the people that after two accidents in Novi Sad, when two clubs caught fire, no one resigned.
"In Marseille, it took 15 years until the verdict after the tragedy, in Genoa two years until the first arrests," he added.
"It is interesting to me that they finished the expert examination here so quickly. I think it is a question of the institutions. Is this easy or simple for me who, if I cannot say a friend, then I can say a friend and someone who also respects Goran Vesić and Jelena Tanasković and Anita Dimovski. Anita Dimovski is a hardworking woman, Jelena Tanasković too. That is my personal opinion, but as the President of the Republic, I have to be more responsible. I have to separate those two roles," said Vucic.
He also referred to the journalist's question about "public pressure" that insisted on arrests and resignations. "RTS, as the sister television of Nova S and N1, exerted the most pressure," he claims.
"In the first two minutes of the Daily News, you mentioned three gatherings. In front of the FPN Faculty of Political Science, the Faculty of Philosophy, the Sava Bridge, and some other meaningless gathering in Novi Sad. Just to keep that in mind, there were a total of 180 people at those gatherings. They have pressure groups that include RTS, together with its sister televisions, and they want to create the impression that there is a state of emergency in Serbia because 180 people are exerting pressure and controlling the entire country. This is notorious nonsense," he added.
He also reminded that RTS did not condemn the attacks on TV Informer journalists. When it comes to the protests in Novi Sad, he said that there was no pushing in front of the Prosecutor's Office and the court in Novi Sad, but the police stood and others pushed them.
The President of Serbia had a message for the citizens of Serbia:
"We're done with resignations, let the prosecutor's office do its job, let it arrest whoever it needs," he said.
He says that the pressure on Serbia will increase, but that Serbia will preserve its country and institutions. "Are certain people's fates going to be harder, worse? There is no doubt. Maybe more than they deserve... Do we all have problems? We do," he said.
He points out that RTS is much more dangerous than Nova S and N1, because it works much more cunningly and corruptly. Speaking about the protests over the demolition of the Sava bridge, Vučić said that "it's a miracle that the bridge didn't fall by itself."
"Look at that insolence: We want to build that bridge, to make it a pedestrian bridge, to preserve it as a historical bridge, to try to preserve it as a memory of ugly, horrible times, and then to build a bridge there that Belgrade will be proud of," he said.
Vučić added that they want to build a magnificent bridge there, and when he asks those protesting why they shouldn't build it, "no one can answer me".
He added that crazy people always have room to show off when the media portrays them.
"They live on being popular and nothing more. Whatever you try to change and do in the country, you can't do it. I don't have any problem, I'm the freest man in the world today, because I still have two years to go. Whatever you try, it's no use," he said, adding:
"It's the opposite, like for Hotel 'Yugoslavia'. Do you really believe that they put up an act for free? There is someone who is paying for it. We will push for it, to make Serbia a better country to live in. Everything is upside down in this country, so it is possible that the biggest bullies are against violence," said Vučić.
He reminded that the actors live decently, and that they read proclamations against violence under the pressure of the actor Dragan Bjelogrić, and that they never once read the proclamation against Dragan Bjelogrić when he beat Gaga Antonijević.
When asked about the withdrawal of the proposal for the Law on Higher Education, Vučić said that he was "angry about the Government's decision to withdraw that proposal."
"It is not clear to me, we do not want our children to leave the country, and on the other hand, the draft law is withdrawn," he said.
He says that he is disappointed with the Serbian Government's decision to withdraw the proposal to amend the Law on Higher Education and that he is angry with Prime Minister Miloš Vučević.
"Now we have established that we have a fantastic university. Our intention was to bring competition and that our children do not go abroad. I will see if I will personally submit a proposal for that law, so let's see who will have the majority," he said.
President Vučić also spoke about the situation in Kosovo and Metohija.
"Kurti ordered it on purpose, he expected that these persons would be liquidated and that this would be the reason for the involvement of NATO in the conflict with Serbia."
When asked to comment on the fact that Russia this morning, as reported by Ukrainian and Western media, launched an intercontinental ballistic missile at the city of Dnieper, he pointed out that he does not believe in it, but added that he is otherwise not an optimist.
He then added that, when it comes to the people of Serbia, he will ensure that everything is done more strongly.
In the end, he congratulated all the people in Serbia who are celebrating Arandjelovdan today.
