Vučić urgently scheduled a meeting of the National Security Council
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić scheduled an emergency meeting of the National Security Council for today.
As explained by the Presidency of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić's today's planned activity of the President of Serbia, the visit to mark the International Student Day, is cancelled, because Vučić has scheduled a meeting of the National Security Council.
As announced by the Presidency, the beginning of the Council session is scheduled for today at 12:45 in the building of the General Secretariat of the President of the Republic, on Andrićev venac.
Let us remind you that the Council for National Security is the body of the Republic of Serbia that considers issues of importance for national security and directs the work of the security services.
Since 2007, the Law on the Basics of Security Services Organization has legally defined the work of this body. Council sessions are also convened by the President of the Republic, at least once every three months, and more often if necessary.
The agenda is determined by the President together with the Prime Minister. If the President is prevented and cannot preside, the Prime Minister takes over.
The president can, on his own initiative or on the initiative of one of the members, invite to the session the heads of state bodies and institutions, or some other persons who are not members of the council.
All conclusions and other acts that are adopted are personally signed by the President of the Republic.
Let us remind you that after the terrible tragedy that befell Serbia when 15 people died in the fall of the canopy at the train station in Novi Sad, the opposition decided to organize protests and call for violence on the streets of that city. That protest was marked by savagery, in the true sense of the word, because the Town Hall was ruined, windows and doors were broken, torches were thrown, the building, which is a cultural asset, was pelted with paint and feces...
In addition, the organizers of the protest from the ranks of the opposition attacked individually the members of the police who were performing their duty that evening and were maximally restrained.
Later, the opposition decided to "move" the protest to Belgrade, which was a real debacle because, according to media estimates, around 2,000 people gathered then.
The citizens have made it clear what they think about the politicization of the tragedy, but this is not enough for the opposition representatives, so orchestrated attempts at destabilization continue every day in Novi Sad.
