Vučić sent a clear message: We're going to fight until victory
President of Serbia and member of the SNS Presidency, Aleksandar Vučić, said today at the session of the Main Board of that party that difficult days are behind us, for every normal and decent person in the country, because of the great tragedy in Novi Sad.
"Those great tragedies left a mark in the heart and soul of every citizen who has real empathy. And that is the largest number of people in our country. You never know how to get out of it, and you know that you have to live and protect the country and to push the country forward," said Vučić.
He pointed out that there were many crises from 2012 until today, and especially since 2014, from the great floods that hit us, as well as from the migrant crisis and COVID, when a huge number of people died, as in every country in the world.
"First of all, let me mention that in our not-so-distant environment, a war is raging that most resembles a world conflict from the Second World War until today, where we are once again in the most difficult situation, pressed from all sides, where no one is satisfied with our attitude, which means the attitude of an independent country and no one is happy about it. And that is our only possible position, to protect our country, not to participate in conflicts and wars, to protect the lives of our youth, our people, our future and for our country to progress at the same time", pointed out Vučić.
"Until the terrible tragedies at the 'Vladislav Ribnikar' school, in Dubona, in Malo Orašje, which left a mark across the country. We tried to act responsibly and seriously, even in those most difficult moments, without losing our heads, knowing how difficult it is. We visited families, talked with everyone, the parents. We looked at how and in what way we can help, what the state can do. That's why I'm grateful to Mayor of Novi Sad Djurić who went to all the funerals, and you can imagine how difficult it is to see the pain when you go to a family where the father and mother lost their children, the mother also lost the father. What can you say, but it is the job of those in the state to go and say 'Accept our condolences' and to show that it is really difficult for them, to show that theya are human. And they all received their condolences in a dignified way," he added.
He assessed that those who don't feel sorry for anyone behave in a disrespectful way and that "whenever you see angry people, they don't feel sorry for anyone".
"They are looking for something for themselves, and they don't feel sorry for anyone. When they rioted, burned, demolished, urinated on the 130-year-old City Hall building in Novi Sad, they said it wasn't them, it was elements inserted. Like every time, It's not them, it's the inserted elements. And as soon as tomorrow they go to our prosecutors' offices, the courts to demand that these 'inserted elements' be released, since it seems that they are not really inserted, but theirs, and no one remembers that they remember what they said, not so long ago, just 24 hours before," said Vučić.
Speaking about the riots in Novi Sad, Vučić said that it is good that the peace was preserved and that these elements came with weapons "to deal with us".
About resignations
He added that they are telling them all must resign.
"Our obligation is to the citizens of Serbia, not to the immoral in this country. I am asking others to resign as well. We are in the most difficult situation. Pajtić said that he would not give power for his life, the same was the case with Djilas, do you want to remind you how resignations go in this country, do you know who resigned when the prime minister of this country was assassinated? A man was killed at the entrance to the government! Where's moral or political responsibility," the president said.
As he added, everyone jumped to blame someone else, but responsibility is something that must be carried at all times.
"You have to fight, there will be many more difficult challenges ahead of us, you have to be united. First they demonized me, my whole family are criminals, and no matter how hard I tried, I don't even know where Jovanjica is... Some of our people were lying to protect themselves, until one of their journalists came out and said that it was all a lie. Who are you afraid of? Think about yourself, who cares about the next 5-10 years", said he.
President Vučić added that they all think and want the same, as do their political opponents.
"Unfortunately for them, I survived October 5, on the street. Stefanović was with me then, on the street, but when you have your own idea, when you believe in what you are doing, when your conscience is clear, then nobody can harm you. After 50 years, they didn't think to look at that station, they built 0 meters of railway," he said.
Speaking about the resignation of Goran Vesić, the Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, it must not be the last and called on others to resign for the sake of political, objective, and not subjective or criminal-legal responsibility.
He emphasized that there is no game about the investigation when it comes to the tragedy at the railway station and that it is the state's job, just as there is no game about how responsibility will be determined.
"Political responsibility, Goran Vesić resigned even though no decision was made on anything during his time when he was a minister, although it will be difficult to determine who is responsible and how, but that is the job and that must be done by the prosecution and the court.
"Vesić has resigned and that must not be the end," Vučić stressed.
"I am calling on you for other people to resign for the sake of political, objective and not subjective or criminal legal responsibility, not because someone asks for it or does not ask for it. They are not interested in resignations or anything else. The only thing they are interested in is that to get hold of power," said Vučić.
Referring to the fact that the protest of the opposition, which was scheduled for Wednesday, was moved to Monday, Vučić pointed out that this was done because they say that, as he stated, people in Serbia will "cool down".
"Imagine, they scheduled a rally for Wednesday, so now they moved the rally to Monday. Do you know why? They say people in Serbia will cool down," said Vučić and added that they need anger.
Reconstruction of the Government
The President of Serbia said that from March to June there will be a reconstruction of the Government and that he will say goodbye to some members.
"It's time for us to open our tickets nicely, from March to June with that reconstruction, to thank all those who explain on television - to respect President Vučić, because they know that's how they get votes, and behind their backs they invite all our opponents to say - well, you know it's not us, Vučić did it, Vučić ordered it, and so on. Don't touch us, don't attack us, but Vučić said. He told the SNS officials present that some of them are doing the same.
"So, it's time to look each other in the face, it's time to make things clear, so where it broke, let it break and as long as it can last, let it last. Get ready, it's not a shame. At the end of 2026, at the beginning of 2027, we will have elections," Vučić said.
The session began with a minute of silence for the victims of the accident at the railway station in Novi Sad.
The session is attended by SNS President Miloš Vučević, as well as officials Ana Brnabić, Siniša Mali, Maja Gojković, Irena Vujović, Bratislav Gašić, Goran Vesić, Aleksandar Martinović, Petar Petković, Marko Djurić, Marija Zdravković, Arnaud Gouillon, Tomislav Momirović...
Prime Minister and party president Miloš Vučević said yesterday that the meeting will discuss current political events, and certainly the accident at the train station in Novi Sad.
He said that the tragedy in Novi Sad cannot end with the resignation of the Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, Goran Vesić, and that political responsibility and resignations will be a topic in the coming days, among other things, at the meeting of the Main Board and the Presidency of the Serbian Progressive Party.
Minister of Culture Nikola Selaković, Minister of Trade Tomislav Momirović, Goran Vesić, as well as the President of Obrenovac City Municipality Milorad Grčić also came to the session.
Speaking for RTS, Serbian Prime Minister Miloš Vučević said that Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić was also invited to the SNS sessions.
"I hope that the President of the Republic, whom I invited, despite the large number of state obligations, will come to the session of the Main Board, that is, the Presidency of the party, and that he can hear what the party's position is and that we can hear him," said the Prime Minister.
