Vučić: Criminal-legal accountability is required; This is the beginning of a series of resignations
The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, spoke about all current topics, and above all about the tragedy that happened in Novi Sad.
"After the terrible tragedy that affected all normal people in the country, first of all I would like to express my condolences to the families of the victims. Let us pray to God that the injured will survive," said Vučić.
He said that the responsibility for the tragedy must be criminal-legal, and added that Goran Vesić brought him full documentation.
"When such tragedies happen, the nation and state are always like a family and those decent people are always united. Decent people in grief do not ask for anyone's head, decent people ask that they come out of everything embraced as a family, caring for those who suffered the most pain and doing everything to ensure that this never happens again," said Vučić.
He wondered why "we didn't remember to change the cables" for 60 years.
"That was an exceptional act in 1964. This is a professional error, and I would not be in the shoes of judges, prosecutors and experts," said Vučić.
He added that everyone who bears some kind of responsibility will be held criminally accountable.
"I didn't say that because I want to belong to a small part of irresponsible people, but because it has to be a lesson for us so that it doesn't happen again," explained the president.
President of Serbia commented on the resignation offered by Minister Goran Vesić. He emphasized that he did not "force" Vesić to resign as many claim, and that this is just the beginning of a series of resignations.
"This is a heavy blow psychologically for the country. We cannot bring back 14 people, it's an unbearable blow for their families and for the whole country, that's why we have to push through everything we planned. This is just the beginning of a series of resignations. It is important to establish criminal responsibility, but the country must move forward. I have an impossible fear of how we will do until 2026, because I know what kind of hell we are in now," said the president.
"The bottom line is to kick out Chinese companies"
He pointed out that he had heard various nonsense such as placing the responsibility on Chinese companies and that this was the essence. He says that on August 20, 2009, Deputy Prime Minister Mladjan Dinkić (as he says, "Aleksić's boss") signed the Agreement on Economic Cooperation with the People's Republic of China, and Annex No. 1 was signed by Djilas' associate Dušan Nikezić.
He says he wants people to know that "they did it, not us." Who is to blame, he says, some designer, some institute, one of the contractors, subcontractors, whoever, will be determined by the court.
He adds that it is important that the punishment follows, so that it would be a lesson and a warning to everyone, that in the future one must take care and approach every job with much more care.
"Whether an institute made a mistake, the court will establish. It is important that the punishment follows, so that it would be a lesson and a warning to everyone that in the future they must take care and approach their work with much more care. We cannot lose any more people, a single child," he said.
Tough days for all
Vučić said that the previous days were very difficult for everyone in Serbia. He referred to the hunt on social networks, and assessed it as "organized and orchestrated in the regional media".
"When the chase starts, people often face fear and in that fear they are ready to do anything. Some to drive the danger away from themselves, others to find the culprit so they don't lose their position... I heard that from businessmen who were bothered by Vesić because they had never been satisfied with his ineffectiveness towards them," he added.
Vučić stated that he does not know exactly who is to blame for the tragedy that happened in Novi Sad, and that now everyone in the chain is shifting the blame to the other.
"I ask the question who should I arrest, they say someone from an organization that helped people, to find the culprit, beat him and the whole people will be satisfied and so on. Wait, you elected me as president so that I would put the burden on someone innocent... You don't know me, you may have overestimated me in terms of political survival, but you underestimated me in terms of humanity. If I were to go after people to save my ratings, I would rather kill myself than do that," said Vučić on TV Happy.
Vučić repeated that the responsibility for the tragedy in Novi Sad must be clear and unambiguous, and that everything should be done so that it never happens again.
Vučić spoke about the demands for his dismissal.
"You will not overthrow the Government of Serbia. So if they manage to overthrow it, for Vucevic to say tomorrow, here we are, we don't have a Government of Serbia, so who am I going to give a mandate to, I won't give it to any of them because I know them, I see them every day, and how they behave even today, I will give it to someone responsible," said Vučić.
US Elections – the most important in the history of mankind
Speaking about the elections in the USA, Vučić said that they are the most important in the history of mankind. He pointed out that he does not know who will win the elections in the United States of America, and that there is little difference between the candidates.
He assessed that Trump had an extremely successful campaign, better than Kamala Harris, but that, as he says, he is convinced that Kamala will have more votes.
"It may happen that these elections bring peace or an extension of the war that would lead us to the Third World War," added Vučić.
