Vučić and Sulyok laid wreaths at the Reconciliation Monument and in the Raid Victims Museum in Čurug PHOTO
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and Hungarian President Tamás Sulyok today laid wreaths at the Reconciliation Monument in Čurug, as well as at the "Topal Warehouse" Raid Victims Museum.
They toured the museum, and they were accompanied by the President of the Provincial Government, Maja Gojković, the Minister of Labour, Employment, Veterans and Social Affairs, Nemanja Starović, as well as the President of the SVM, Balint Pastor.
Pastor and President of the National Council of Hungarians in Serbia Árpád Fremond also laid wreaths in the museum.
Vučić and Sulyok will then go to Žabalj, where the blessing of the restored Catholic Church of Our Lady of the Snows will be organized, where the two presidents are scheduled to address.
The Reconciliation Monument was erected in memory of the innocent Hungarian victims who died in 1945 and was unveiled on June 26, 2013, when "Topal's Warehouse" was also opened as the Raid Victims Museum.
Earlier today, Vučić had a face-to-face meeting with his Hungarian colleague at the Palace of Serbia, where the plenary meeting of the delegations of Serbia and Hungary was also held.
On that occasion, Vučić announced himself on Instagram.
"This museum bears witness to the terrible past and is a kind of symbol of reconciliation, forgiveness and the future. There is no excuse for crime, nor for forgetting. That's why we remember, with the deepest piety, those who died because of their name and surname, because of belonging to one nation and because of the wrong ideology that left its evil mark in the history of both nations. We bow to their shadows, while building a common future, in the name of mutual respect, understanding, sincere friendship and brotherhood of Serbs and Hungarians," Vučić wrote on his Instagram account.
