Vučić laid a wreath at the Monument to the Unknown Hero: 80 anniversary of the liberation of Belgrade
On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belgrade, the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, laid a wreath at the monument to the Unknown Hero at Avala.
"Eighty years have passed since the heroic liberation of Belgrade in the Second World War. Centuries ago, unwavering love for freedom gave strength to our people for victories in wars.
We will never forget the courage of our ancestors in the fight for justice against many times stronger enemies. May there be eternal glory and gratitude to all brave women and men who laid down their lives for the freedom of our people," Vučić wrote on Instagram with photos of the laying of the wreath.
On this day, October 20, 1944, Belgrade was liberated from the German occupiers in World War II.
The Belgrade operation was one of the largest and most important battles in the Second World War on our territory.
