Thaci's trial continues: Over 300 witnesses will testify
The trial of four former leaders of the so-called KLA, Hashim Thaci, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi, continued in The Hague, with the testimony of a civilian, a Kosovo Albanian who was detained and abused in 1998.
He appeared in court as protected witness W04590, and the trial was closed to the public.
Four former leaders of the so-called KLA are accused of war crimes and crimes against humanity.
On September 30, 2022, the Special Prosecutor's Office submitted a confirmed amended indictment against Thaci, Veseli, Krasniqi and Selimi in 10 counts, charging them with war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in illegal detentions, of the so-called KLA in Kosovo and Albania.
They are accused of unjustly depriving people of their freedom, torturing and killing them.
The trial began on April 3, 2023, and the 91st witness testified on Thursday.
The specialized prosecutor's office in The Hague announced earlier that there are more than 300 witnesses who will give statements during this court proceeding.
During 1998 and 1999, the so-called KLA committed numerous crimes, murders and kidnappings against members of the army and police of the then Yugoslavia, Serbs and other non-Albanians, as well as Albanians who did not accept to be its helpers or members.
