Grenell added that he is not sure that the US vice president and Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris "even knows" where the Balkan is.

"I am disappointed that all the good things that Trump did in the region have been spoiled. I don't need to tell you, nor my Albanian friends, the people in the region in general, that the situation is worse under the administration of (US President Joe) Biden-Harris. I am not sure that Kamala Harris even knows where the Balkan is," said Grenell, who attended the reception of the Mission of Serbia to the UN entitled "Serbia Beyond Future".

He added in a statement to reporters that Harris is not focused on the issue and that there is "no doubt" that things were better when Trump was president. He also said that Serbia and America have a long history of relations and that they are "bound by sincere friendship" regardless of who wins the presidential elections in November.

Grenell added that he is in contact with the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, and that his advice has always been to get Serbia closer to the West and the USA and to distance itself from Russia and China.

"Serbia's future is to always be with the USA, not with Russia and China. The relations between Serbia and the USA will always be good, because it is something that is outside of politics," said Grenell.

At the reception, he also said that he is glad that Serbia is advancing in technology and that it is talking about artificial intelligence.

"Serbia is talking about artificial intelligence at the UN, and it is good that it is talking about it, because you know what it means for people: it means work. And that is what we all want to see - the creation of new jobs," said Grenell.
