The eyes of the world are on the UN; An important speech by Vučić is awaited: A key point - fight for Serbia
The general debate of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) has begun in New York, where more than 140 world leaders and state representatives gather, including President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić.
The general debate was opened by the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, and then, in the established order, President of Brazil Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, the second on the list of speakers is the U.S. President Joseph Biden, and the third is the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
President Vučić is 14th on the list of speakers on the first day of the general debate. As the President of Serbia said in earlier appearances from New York, the main topic of his speech will be the situation in Kosovo and Metohija and all that the Serbs are exposed to by the Pristina authorities.
The presidents of Switzerland, Colombia, South Africa, Lithuania, Guatemala, Maldives, Tajikistan, Sierra Leone, Angola, as well as the Emir of Qatar and the King of Jordan will address the participants.
The general debate is part of the UN General Assembly session and is held at the beginning of each regular session in September.
It has been announced that this year's theme will be joint action to promote peace, sustainable development and human dignity for current and future generations, but each speaker can present a topic they consider particularly important.
The session of the UN General Assembly is considered one of the biggest diplomatic events in the world, and this year it is being held in the shadow of growing crises, conflicts and wars all over the world.
