"It's amazing, Novi Sad in an hour and five minutes"; Vučić announced the completion of Fruška Gora corridor

Vučić announced that this road will be opened before the end of the year.

"Before the end of the year, prior to St. Nicholas, we will open the Šabac-Loznica road, a high-speed road," Vučić said yesterday.

The road will be opened on December 15, he announced during a tour of the works, saying that it looks wonderful.

"First we built the Ruma - Šabac highway, now Šabac - Loznica, which is 54.5 new kilometers," he said. We are finishing Loznica - Šabac and Šabac - Ruma, then the Fruška Gora Corridor will be completed in less than two and a half years, and when it is finished, it will take one hour and five minutes from Novi Sad to Loznica''.

He said that the design of the Loznica - Mali Zvornik expressway is underway.

"So, we are completing Loznica-Šabac, Šabac-Ruma. In two and a half years, the Fruška Gora corridor will be completed. Novi Sad will be reached in one hour and five minutes from Loznica. We are not used to being able to get between those cities at that speed", Vucic said.

He pointed out that that part of Serbia will be networked with highways and expressways.

He also said that Slepčević - Badovinci is being worked on and that the bridge in Karakaj and Mali Zvornik is being solved.

"We still have to bring in more good companies. In 2012, Loznica had 11,600 unemployed, today there are 3,570 unemployed. The problem in Loznica is low incomes. The most important thing is to see how we will bring in investors in order to increase salaries. The average salary is 657 euros in Loznica, and it was 297 euros 12 years ago," he said.

"From Loznica to Mali Zvornik, we are now working on the project documentation for the first time and we will finish it in less than a year, and then we will make a decision to see if we have enough money. No one will ever do this many investments and roads, nor has anyone worked so hard," he underlined. 

He announced that he will have to visit the towns of Priboj, Prijepolje, Nova Varoš, as well as Sjenica, Ivanjica, but also the southeast of Serbia, from Babušnica to the entire Jablanica and Pčinja districts.

"We managed to find additional sources of funds and we will invest one billion euros in local and regional roads throughout Serbia. This means life for local population. We have cash, 250 million is about 0.3 percent of the deficit, and we will try not to endanger public finances", he said.

About the Šabac-Loznica expressway

Furthermore, Šabac - Loznica expressway has a total length of 54.58 km. There are 53.88 km under construction, since during the opening of the first and second sections, a part of the third section with a length of 700 m was also opened, as a connection with the Drenovac interchange.

 

On the Šabac - Loznica section, 13 bridges, 17 small bridges-culverts, 16 overpasses and four uneven intersections in Majur, Slepčević, Petlovača and Prnjavor were designed.

Works are being carried out along the entire route in full profile (on the Šabac and Loznica parts), until now about 5,120,000 rounds of cubic materials (97.5 percent of the total amount) have been installed in the embankment construction.

Asphalting of the first layer of asphalt was carried out in a length of 89.4 km (left plus right lane), 89 km of asphalt of the second layer of asphalt (left plus right lane) and 62 km of wearing final layer of asphalt (left plus right lane), which is a total of approx. 355,000 tons of installed asphalt.

Moreover, works are being carried out on the construction of bridge structures, out of a total of 46 buildings, construction works on 44 have been completed, while work on two buildings is ongoing. 105 km of elasto-repellant and seven km of wire fences were installed.

With the section from Ruma to Šabac, with a bridge over the Sava, the citizens of Mačva and Srem got a traffic connection with that part of the country, and with the high-speed road from Šabac to Loznica, this region will have a better connection with Western Serbia and Republika Srpska.

This important infrastructure project brings Mačva, Loznica and Podrinje closer to Novi Sad and Belgrade, where from Loznica to Šabac it will take 30 minutes, from Šabac to Belgrade on the newly built highway 40 minutes, which means that Belgrade can be reached from Loznica in an hour and 10 minutes.

Intersection Ruma connects the Ruma-Šabac highway with the future Fruška Gora corridor, as well as with the existing E-70 Belgrade-Šid highway.

With the construction of the Fruška Gora Corridor, which will "lean" on this project, it will take 20 minutes from Ruma to Novi Sad.
