Vučić and Macron at the Forum on Youth and Artificial Intelligence: We must not lag behind China and the USA

Prior to this, during the second day of his visit to Serbia, Macron visited Matica Srpska with Vucic.

President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, thanked for the hospitality and said that he is very happy that he will be able to hear the people from Schneider Electric.

"I am honored to be here today and very happy. What is important is the right of every person to have access to electricity and that is why they invest so much in the electricity network. Everything is based on innovation, on science, on everything that we do not know but in which young people can help us. We haven't even done the 5G network yet. I'm especially grateful, we have a good technical faculty here in Novi Sad, I believe we will be able to invest more money in the future, to get even more students who represent the future of our country. Thank you, Mr. President, for being here with us in Novi Sad," said Vučić.

Then French President Emmanuel Macron spoke and said that he will organize a summit on this topic next February.

"We are always here in a strange situation, we should speak intelligently about something that the people in the audience know better than us. If we are here to talk together about artificial intelligence, it is because Serbia has an important role and chairs the group that we have formed. We signed an agreement yesterday that is the bearer of an ambitious project. Everything we signed yesterday allows us to better structure our relations," Macron said.

''We Europeans watch it a little from a distance, the Chinese and Americans invest much more. The Chinese model of artificial intelligence, it is ruled by the Chinese government. I think that Europe is the place where we invented the renaissance, where we put man in the center. First of all, we need to stop galloping, in order to reach the level of China and the United States. Then we need to define the rules. First is science, when we talk about AI, it is important that everything is based on science and not on personal interests. Second is the standard, we need a common standard. The third is solutions, we need to have common solutions, which will be open, it is also important to have European solutions. Our main risk is to depend on standards and solutions that will not be European," Macron said.
