Macron: It's impressive

Macron stated, after visiting the gallery of Matica Srpska, that it was impressive to see all those artists and that it was a pleasure for him to be in the gallery.

"I made a commitment to come to the Gallery in Novi Sad with President Vučić. And as I told the team and the director, my only regret is that I can't stay longer and I have to say that it is impressive to see all those artists, where we can see the way the nation thinks and how it is realized through artists. I am pleased to have been here," Macron told RTS.

When asked if he had previously known about the relationship between Serbian and French art, Macron replied that he was aware of that connection and emphasized that it was wonderful to see a clear illustration of that connection live.

Vučić published photos: I am very proud

The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, announced on his Instagram account "buducnostsrbijeav" that he is very proud of the opportunity to host a great friend of Serbia, President Emmanuel Macron, in his visit to the Matica Srpska Gallery, which has been affirming Serbian culture in Europe and the world for almost two centuries.

"I am especially happy that I had the opportunity to show my great friend an extraordinary collection of Serbian painting, including the works of Uroš Predić, but also the works of Sava Šumanović, Milan Konjević and Petar Dobrović, who were our link with the Paris school of painting," said Vučić.
