It is stated that Drašković, after more than 30 years at the head of SPO, submitted his resignation on July 12, and that the change in the leadership of the party was registered on August 19 in the register of political parties at the Ministry of State Administration and Local Self-Government.

The newly elected president of the SPO assessed that the party is facing "a period of consolidation and reorganization".

"The Serbian Renewal Movement is a national, democratic, liberal and civil monarchist party. It has been that from the beginning, it will continue to be that in the future," stated Cvetković.
