Vučić at the reception in the Élysée Palace: Warm greetings with Macron; A series of meetings with officials
President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, attends the reception in the Élysée Palace.
Apart from the official opening ceremony of the Olympic Games,Vučić is a guest at the reception organized by the President of the Republic of France, Emmanuel Macron, in honor of world leaders.
President of Serbia warmly greeted the President of France Emmanuel Macron and his wife.
After a warm greeting, President Vučić took a photo with the President of France and his wife.
"I took advantage of the reception at the Élysée Palace to meet with European and world officials. We all have a common desire for our national teams to achieve the best possible results. I believe in Serbia," Vučić said on his Instagram account.
The reception is attended by 85 world leaders, including, in addition to President Vučić, Prime Minister of Greece Kyriakos Mitsotakis, President of Bulgaria Rumen Radev, Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz, First Lady of the United States of America Jill Biden, President of Poland Andrzej Duda, President of Argentina Javier Milei, Prime Minister of Albania Edi Rama, Chancellor of Austria Karl Nehammer, President of Cameroon Paul Biya, Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamed Al Thani, President of Hungary Thomas Sujok and many others.
15 presidents of international organizations are also present, among others, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, President of the European Central Bank Christine Lagarde, President of the European Council Charles Michel, President of the International Olympic Committee Thomas Bach and many others.
President Vučić announced that he will have a short meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron today.
"I expect his visit to Belgrade in the next 50 days, at the latest, and I believe that we could reach important agreements there," Vučić told reporters ahead of the reception in Paris.
President Vučić pointed out that it is extremely important for Serbia to nurture good ties and good relations with France, as well as to improve those ties. He also expressed confidence that France will maintain order and security at the highest level during the 33rd Summer Olympic Games.
"It's better to take every safety measure than to think about whether you can walk from one street to another... It's something that is definitely very important and I believe that they will manage to maintain it at the highest level during the Olympics," Vucic said.
He added that he understands the commitment of the French police to every security measure and stated that many threats have come from different groups around the world.
In Paris, as well as in front of the Élysée Palace, security measures have been raised to the highest level, the streets are closed and large number of police and military personnel are visible.
After the reception, the heads of state and government will head to the Trocadero, from where they will watch the ceremonial opening of the Olympic Games, which is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
