Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Serbia announced: We are informing the public, it is disinformation
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Serbia has made an urgent announcement regarding the article in the daily newspaper "Nova" re: the visit of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Alexander Grushko, to Belgrade.
As stated in the press release delivered to the media, "The Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs the public that the entire article, which covers this topic, as well as the main headline in the newspaper 'Nova', represents fake news and intentionally worded disinformation."
"It is evident that it is the consent or intention of the authors and orderers of this misinformation to spread misinformation about the character and nature of the relations between the Republic of Serbia and the Russian Federation to cause political tensions and divisions in our country, to cause political damage to the state leadership of our country headed by President Vučić, but it also caused damage to Serbia's reputation in the international community," says the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Serbia.
It is also stated that the Ministry condemns this "blatant example of irresponsible behavior in the public sphere".
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs calls on the authors and orderers of this disinformation, as well as all actors on the public stage, to refrain from spreading false news, which can have harmful consequences for the state's interests, in a complex geopolitical moment for our country. We especially call for giving up efforts to political goals being achieved daily with untrue and sensationalist captions, for the sake of increasing the readership and viewership of public media," the statement concludes.
