Major arrest in Niš: 13 officials "had fallen"; MIA issued a statement

They were arrested due to the existence of grounds for suspicion that they committed the criminal offense of negligent work in the service, it was stated in the statement of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The following were arrested: I. M. (46), former director of the "Medijana" PUK, D. D. (64), former Deputy Mayor of the City of Niš, V. I. (57), former assistant to the Niš mayor, M. J. (70), director of the Niš Health Center, G. M. (37), former director of the "Naissus" PUK Niš, as well as S. R. (59), director of the Institute for Emergency Medical Assistance in Niš, S.S. (51), secretary of the Red Cross in Niš, M.S. (43), director of the Institute for Public Health in Niš, M.P. (53), former director of the Veterinary Specialist Institute "Niš", and M.A. (35), director of the Veterinary Specialist Institute "Niš", while two persons are intensively searched for.

Also, in cooperation with the Internal Control Sector, S. M. (54), head of the Administration for Emergency Situations in Niš, and D. T. (44), police officer of the Niš Police Department, were arrested, while in cooperation with the Military Police, A. T. (44), head of the Army Command, was arrested.

It is suspected that they, as members of the Emergency Situations Staff of the City of Nis, acted unconscionably in that they voted for the conclusions of the Emergency Situations Staff of the City of Nis, which proposed that the mayor make a decision on the declaration of a state of emergency in the territories of the city's municipalities and the order by which entities of special importance were engaged "Vodomonteri" from Lalinac and PD "Sim puk gradnja" d.o.o. network, in the territory of the City of Nis, applying the provisions of the Law on Disaster Risk Reduction and Emergency Management and other regulations under this Law, and not applying the Law on Public Procurement, although in the mentioned situations it was not about emergency situations, but about investment maintenance and expansion of the water and sewerage network.

It is suspected that the aforementioned subjects, who were hired, based on the offers they gave and which are significantly higher than the market values ​​given in the estimates and preliminary calculations previously prepared by JKP "Naissus" Niš, invoiced the City of Niš according to temporary and final situations at such increased prices in the total amount of 843,336,450 dinars, which damaged the City for this amount.

Suspects will be brought to the competent prosecutor's office with a criminal complaint.
