This is the list of those arrested from the Ministry of Labour

On the order of the Special Anti-corruption Department of the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade, members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the RS arrested today four employees of the Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veterans and Social Affairs due to the existence of grounds for suspicion that in the period from January 2014 to December 2024, by using their official powers and failing to perform their official duties, they enabled the "Ivanović" Home for adults and the elderly in Barajevo to carry out its activities, even though it did not meet the legal requirements for this.

In this way, they obtained property benefits for that legal entity in the amount of not less than one and a half million dinars, through the services charged to the users.

The head of the Department for Inspection Supervision, Sector for Family Care and Social Protection A.V., as well as social protection inspectors N.S, M.G. and M.T. were arrested.

Nenad Stefanović, the chief public prosecutor of the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade, specified that from January 2014 until December 2024, the suspected social protection inspectors carried out periodic regular and extraordinary inspections, determined the existence of irregularities in their work, and then determined in record time that the irregularities had been eliminated, even though this was not the case.

Also, as he added, they did not initiate appropriate procedures to revoke the operating license of the said home.

"As for the head of the Department for Inspectional Supervision, she is suspected of having acted negligently in the performance of her duties by neglecting her supervisory duties, even though she was aware that this could result in a serious violation of the rights of others, which eventually occurred when, on January 20, 2025, a fire broke out in that home due to the improper work of the responsible persons, in which eight users of the home lost their lives and 13 were seriously injured," Stefanović stated.

He also appealed to all state authorities, including relevant ministries, to refrain from commenting on specific cases before the announcement of a special state authority responsible for criminal prosecution, that is, the public prosecutor's office.

N.S, M.G. and M.T. is charged with the criminal offense of Abuse of official position in complicity, while A.V. is charged with the criminal offense Unconscionable work in the service.

By order of the prosecution, the suspects were detained for up to 48 hours, during which time they will be questioned.

We remind you that on January 22, the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade launched an investigation against the three responsible persons of the Home for the elderly and adults "Ivanović" in the town of Veliki Borak, City Municipality of Barajevo, due to the suspicion that they did not comply with the appropriate regulations, as a result of which a fire broke out in that facility on January 20, 2025, in which eight users of the home were killed, while seven received serious injuries.

The investigation is being conducted against the director of the Home for the Elderly and Adults "Ivanović" Gorica I., as well as Aleksandar I. and Miloš I., who are in custody, on suspicion of having committed the crime of Felony against general security.

They brought them handcuffed to the ministry building

As the "Blic" reporter reports, the inspectors brought a female person, most likely an inspector employed by the ministry, to the Ministry building in Nemanjina Street.

Shortly after that, another ministry official was brought in.

"He's recording, he's recording. Don't let him record me," she told the inspectors as they brought her into the ministry building.
