Alija Balijagić arrested PHOTO/VIDEO
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Internal Affairs Ivica Dacic said that members of the SAJ, with the cooperation of all other police forces, arrested Alija Balijagić in the village of Pribojska Goleša at around 3:05 this morning.
"He was found in a house where we had information that he occasionally comes. He was caught sleeping, he did not resist. He had two rifles, one hunting rifle, a boxer and the other - a hunting carbine, modified from a military Papovka rifle," said Dacic.
The arrest was made on a very inaccessible terrain with 40 centimeters of snow, the MIA announced.
"The person is being brought to the Prijepolje Police Department," Dačić said.
Balijagić is suspected of having killed the Madžgalj brother and sister on October 25 in the town of Stolac near Bijelo Polje.
Since then, he has been hiding on the three-border of Montenegro, Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, in inaccessible terrain well known to him from before, when he was also on the run.
Balijagić, by the way, is a repeatedly convicted returnee, he spent almost four decades in prisons for various crimes, 15 of which he spent in solitary confinement.
An Interpol warrant was issued for him, and he was located in the vicinity of Prijepolje at the beginning of November.
The police of both Montenegro and Serbia were looking for Balijagić, and the search involved members of the military, drones and sniffer dogs.
