Namely, that place is inhabited by Wahhabis to which Miloš Žujović (25) also belonged, i.e. Salahudin from Mladenovac, who attacked a member of the Gendarmerie in front of the Israeli Embassy in Belgrade on Saturday morning.

He attacked and injured a member of the Gendarmerie who was in front of the Israeli Embassy in Belgrade with a crossbow, and the wounded policeman managed to return fire and kill him.

Who are the Wahhabis?

Minister Dacic announced that behind the terrorist attack are persons whom the security services already know to be of Wahhabi origin, and that they are converts who converted from the Orthodox faith to Islam.

The most dangerous group is considered to be the group in the village of Gornja Maoča near Brčko, where all the residents are members of this movement.

Gornja Maoča

The settlement of Gornja Maoča is located in northeastern Bosnia-Herzegovina and territorially belongs to the municipality of Srebrenik, Tuzla Canton in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The village was previously known as Karavlasi, and in the 1990s, Wahhabists began to move in. As previously reported by the media, most of the community leaders in Gornja Maoča moved from Prizren, Skopje, Tutin, Novi Sad and Novi Pazar. Then they bought houses and started living in that territory.

The media previously wrote that the Wahhabis in Gornja Maoča are connected to the Wahhabis in Novi Pazar, and the residents of Gornja Maoča have been under investigation by police and intelligence agencies for decades on suspicion of being connected to terrorism.

In 2016, residents of Gornja Maoča said that they can't wait for BiH to join the European Union because they believe that then, due to the abolition of borders, it will be much easier to spread their Islamic mission in Europe.

In February 2010, around 600 policemen and members of the intelligence services surrounded the village of Gornja Maoča. Thus began the largest post-war police operation called "Light", carried out by order of the Court and the Prosecutor's Office of BiH.

Its goal is the arrest and prosecution of persons suspected "of endangering the territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina, attacking the constitutional order and inciting racial and religious hatred''.

On that occasion, seven citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina and one citizen of Croatia were arrested.

The following were arrested: the leader of the Wahhabi community in Gornja Maoča, Nusret Imamović, Safet Barčić, Edis Bosnić, Dževad Hodžić, Hajrudin Ribić, Senad Midžić, Merced Čekić, and Adnan Rustemi, a Croatian citizen.

Maoča was full of weapons

During the aforementioned operation in the village of Gornja Maoča, a certain amount of weapons were found, and certain documents, propaganda material, most of which were in Arabic, as well as computers, CD and DVD materials, were confiscated.

Police structures in BiH have been warning for years that the danger of terrorism is present in the country, and that it comes precisely from radical representatives of Salafi teachings.

At one time, the Director of the Police Administration of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zlatko Miletić, confirmed that the activities of four Salafi groups are being monitored, two of which are interesting because of the way they see solutions to problems in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the world, as well as that they are ready to carry out terrorist attacks with a political background.

Miletić's claims were also confirmed by RS Police Director Uroš Pena, detailing that a suicide belt was also found with some followers of the movement.

New arrests follow in Serbia, red alert in effect

As Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dačić said, after the terrorist attack on Saturday, the reconstruction of Žujović's movements established that what Žujović was doing before the attack, that is, what he had been doing since he came from Mladenovac by bus.

It was established that Žujović was moving around Belgrade, that he went to the synagogue, but that, since the police were there, he continued on to the embassy.

As reported, Žujović bought the crossbow he used for the terrorist attack in a store in Zemun for 6,700 dinars.

In addition to Žujović, the police also arrested Igor Despotović (25) on suspicion of having committed a criminal offense - terrorist association together with the murdered attacker. As we wrote earlier, this is not the first time Despotović has been arrested for planning a terrorist attack.

The police also arrested Kemal Begović, who allegedly possessed a vest with the flag of the Islamic State, while the citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Haris Šundo, was detained, considering that he does not have an approved residence permit. As Minister Dacic announced, he will be ordered to leave Serbia.

President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, announced that there will be new arrests.

"We continue to work, there will be more arrests. We are checking the connection of all the persons and we will finish it. I believe that we will finish most of the arrests by Tuesday and after that, everything will be fine," said Aleksandar Vučić in the morning TV Prva program when asked when a red security alert will be in force in Serbia.

Dacic, it is recalled, made the decision after the terrorist attack to declare a red level of security threats from terrorism.

"All members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs take measures to ensure the safety and security of citizens," reads the description of the photos published on the MIA's Instagram profile.
